Course Content
This is an exciting course for students who want an exam-free alternative to A ‘levels, taking a more engaging, practical approach to learning and assessment. Industry-relevant qualifications geared to key sector requirements, these vocationally related qualifications are increasingly popular and suit a range of learning styles. Topics covered include; the travel and tourism industry, travel locations worldwide, work experience in travel and tourism and working as an overseas resort representative
There are no external tests or exams, and ongoing assessments take place throughout the year on this course which has 100% coursework.
Students will study 12 units in total over 2 years. 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units are studied in the first year. This leads to a full A ‘level in year 1. 6 optional Units are studied in the second year. This leads to a second A ‘level in year 2.

Unit 2 — Travel locations worldwide
- learning about the types of worldwide destinations used for leisure and business
- studying how the UK tourist offer compares to international options
Unit 3 — Marketing travel and tourism
- examining the marketing theories and practice including
- market segmentation and target marketing
- market research and the marketing mix (4P’s)
Unit 4 — Customer service and selling skills in travel and tourism
- analysing the benefits of excellent customer service
- demonstrating selling and customer service techniques
- Unit 5 Current issues in travel and tourism
- Unit 6 Human resources for travel and tourism
- Unit 7 Hospitality for travel and tourism
- Unit 8 Planning and managing a travel and tourism event
- Unit 9 Living and working overseas
- Unit 10 The cruise market
