Intermediate Spanish (Stage 2)
NOCN 2
We run two short courses at Intermediate level:
Course A runs for 10 weeks in the evening in the autumn term.
Course B runs for 10 weeks in the evening in the spring term.
Level of Spanish needed to begin course
Course A
This course continues on from NOCN 1 Course B and assumes that you have a knowledge of Spanish roughly equivalent to having completed Beginners' Level 1 courses A and B.
Course B
This course continues on from NOCN 2 course A and assumes that you have a knowledge of Spanish equivalent to this.
Course Content
Course A
The major emphasis of the course is on developing speaking and listening skills. Topics covered include work, our daily routine, pastimes, getting local information and advice, describing our homes and reading property descriptions. The course includes some basic and essential grammar.
Course B
As in course A above, the major emphasis of the course is on developing speaking and listening skills, but reading comprehension skills are also developed further. Topics covered include talking about our holidays, shopping for clothes and shoes, expressing opinions, feeling unwell and describing our symptoms, sending and replying to invitations, following recipes and choosing wine to go with a meal.
Assessment
Course A
You hand in samples of work done during the course and complete relevant paperwork for external moderation. Everyone who completes the course successfully gains an accredited NOCN unit.
Those who complete both stages 2A and 2B receive the NOCN Level 2 Award for Language Skills.
Course B
You hand in samples of work done during the course and complete relevant paperwork for external moderation. Everyone who completes the course successfully gains an accredited NOCN unit.
Those who complete both stages 2A and 2B receive the NOCN Level 2 Award for Language Skills.

'Talk Spanish 2' (BBC publications) ISBN 978 -1 - 4066-1294-3. Current cost £6.99. Copies can be obtained from the College at the start of the course.
