Swimming Success for College Girls

The QE Girls' swimming team won their divisional heats of the National Schools' Swimming Championships at Middlesbrough.

The team - Natalie Bailey, Lynsey Carveth, Karley Cresser and Sarah Dove - came first in both the medley and freestyle team relay races and are now waiting to hear if their times are good enough to get them into the national finals, in February. Julia Atkinson, Head of PE and Sport, is hopeful that they will qualify. She says:

'The whole team worked well together and they deserve their success. Depending on the times from the other divisional heats, they should win places in the national finals. In recent years the College's swimming teams have had considerable success. The boys were the national champions in 2001 and the girls came fourth in 2003. I'm hopeful that this year's girls' team will get into the medals.'
