Double County Success
Andrew James has been selected for two Under 18 Durham County football squads. He has a place in the Durham County Schools' squad, made up of boys still in further education and is also a member of the Durham County Youth team which is open to all boys in the county.
Mark Scott, teacher of PE and Sports Studies at QE, comments:
'Andy is to be congratulated on his outstanding success. The Durham County Youth squad is traditionally very strong; last year they won the National Youth Cup and it is a particular achievement to be selected for this representative team.'
Andrew is a goalkeeper. He has played this position with the Darlington Spraire Lads since the age of eight and is also the goalkeeper for the College team. As well as being a talented footballer, Andrew is a very good golfer and is junior captain of Blackwell Golf Club. At College he is studying A levels in PE, Psychology, History and General Studies; next year he hopes to go to Sheffield or Northumbria university to read for a degree in Sports Development & Coaching.
