Voluntary Work in Nicaragua and Costa Rica

At the beginning of 2005 Ellie Martin is off to Costa Rica and Nicaragua with Raleigh International to do voluntary community and conservation work.

Ellie and her friend Eve Doherty, who studies at Darlington College of Technology, will spend three months rebuilding coral reefs, working with turtles and helping deprived people. However, before they embark on their gap year activities, they each have to raise £3500 to fund their placements with Raleigh International. They've already organised a number of fundraisers such as an 80s theme party, acoustic nights in local pubs and they're planning other musical events around local bands and talent, the highlight of which will hopefully be a 'Stars in their Eyes' night.
