Shave for Charity
On Friday 3rd October Alice Reid had her head shaved to raise funds for Cancer Research. The event took place in the Student Common Room with a stylist from Tracy Chipperfields salon in Coniscliffe Road.
Alice decided to lose her long dark hair to support her best friend, Laura Rutherford, whose two-year-old niece, Katie Alice Grant, is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.
Katie's illness has had a huge impact on Alice and Laura and they felt they wanted to do something practical to help others.
With the help of the Student Association, staff at QE and many people from outside the College, Alice has raised more than £700 - and the money is still coming in.
Alice and Laura have been close friends since they were at Hummersknott School and both want to go on to university to study History. Alice is studying A Levels in Religious Studies, History, General Studies and English Language; Laura's A Levels are in History, Law, Media and Citizenship.
