Student Leaders

Following vigorous campaigning by candidates, elections were held at the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington for a new President and Vice President of the Student Association.

Six students stood for election and all did superbly well, presenting their views and proposing changes and policies to improve the student experience. The overall winner and new President of the Student Association is Chetan Kotur; the runner up and Vice President is Rob Tugwell. Both Chetan and Rob are first year students and will take on their new leadership roles after the Spring Half Term.

Chetan said:

'I enjoyed the electioneering and am looking forward to the challenges of the year ahead. I really want to make a difference."

Rob added:

'Like Chetan, I want to make a difference and give something back to the College. I'm sure we'll work well together and make a great team.'

Teacher, Melanie Barker who works with the Student Association concluded:

Next year promises to be really exciting. Chetan and Rob are dynamic and I am sure they will have an innovative approach.'

Chetan is studying Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Maths and hopes to become a doctor or a car designer. Rob's ambition is to be an officer in the Army; he is studying Politics, Philosophy, Economics and Law.

Chetan comes from Newton Aycliffe and Rob lives near Bedale.
