British Colleges’ Sport – Rugby
In October, British Colleges’ Sport held rugby trials and four players from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College were selected to represent the North-East colleges in a match against the North-West at Preston.
PE teacher Mark Scott explains:
"Dominic McAlorum, Pat Haley, Mark McConnell and James Robson all played in the match at Preston and did themselves and QE proud. Following this, a squad was selected to play as the North in a match at Doncaster. Pat, who plays flanker, and Mark, who plays back row, were both selected and played for the North in a very challenging and demanding game. They are now waiting to hear if they have made it through to the next stage, which is a full England trial.
All four lads have done fantastically well – to represent the region is a great accomplishment. Good luck to Pat and Mark in selection for the England trial."
