Battle of the Bands
To bring the term to an end and to celebrate Christmas, a mammoth Battle of the Bands was held at QE . Following two heats at the Forum, 16 student bands were whittled down to six for the College final. Playing to an exuberant and enthusiastic audience all the bands gave excellent performances.
Ruby Sommer, Student Entertainments Manager, said:
'It was fantastic - great! Much better than I could ever have hoped for and it was good that the winner is well known local band. ' We Start Fires' rounded off the competition for us.'
The winners were Brass Bandits who were runners up last year. Brass Bandits is made up entirely of QE students - Jack Madden, Michael Chapman, Jonathan Wormold, Laurie Martin, James Denham and Simon Roberts.
David Heaton, the Principal, presented them with their prize of £200 worth of recording time at the Forum.
On behalf of the Brass Bandits Jack Madden said:
'It was absolutely amazing and we're astounded that we won. We didn't care where we came as long as the crowd got behind us and had a good time. We're really looking forward to our recording time at the Forum.'
Isotopia came second, the Subliminals were third.
