Science at Work

Science at Work

A group of 7 staff from the Environment Agency spent a morning at QE working with students studying AS Level Applied Science.

Teacher, Andy Adams explains:

"AS Level Applied Science is a new course at QE and students have to investigate organisations that use Science and produce a detailed project about one organisation. I am delighted that the Environment Agency is working with us on this. It’s the first time we’ve done so and it is an excellent opportunity for students. Working with professionals gives students a ‘feel’ for Science in the real world and extends their knowledge and understanding."

Diana Orr from the Environment Agency adds:

"We really enjoyed our visit to QE. It was valuable and productive, designed to complement students’ studies but also to promote the study of Science in the Tees Valley. We hope to be able to continue our links with QE."

25 students were involved in the interactive sessions and the 7 staff from the Environment Agency came from a range of backgrounds including human resources, flood defence, IT Data support, external relations and ,of course, Science.
