Representing the North

Representing the North

After rigorous selection trials, three students from QE have won places in the British Colleges’ North Rugby Union Squad. Sam Errington, James Hyde and Cole Henderson will now go on to face strong opposition in December when they play the Midlands and the South in two trial games for the full England squads.

The local boys, who play their club rugby for Darlington Mowden Park and Billingham, are popular members of the College team and QE coaching staff and their College team mates are very proud of their achievements so far. Wayne Hedley, teacher and rugby coach at QE, says:

"I am delighted for Sam, James and Cole - they are very accomplished in their positions and will make a huge impact on the game; their selection reflects their talent and attitude towards rugby. Opportunities like this are excellent for the boys - the trials are very structured and serious and give players a great insight into the discipline required in professional sport. Their success will create a positive pathway for rugby development at the College and act as inspiration for future players. Well done boys!'
