Record Number Offered Oxbridge Places

Fourteen students studying at QE have been offered places at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Their places are conditional upon achieving the highest grades at A Level in this summer’s exams but all are determined to do their utmost to secure their places.

Nine have been offered places at Cambridge:-

Andrew Williamson - Geography
Laura Williams - Law
Laura Raine - Veterinary Science
Michael Dyson - Maths
Rachael Roberts - Architecture
Adam Shield - Natural Science
Charlotte Pollock - Natural Science
Sophie Madden - History
Georgia van Raalte - Theology

The five with Oxford offers are:-

Sam Hurst - Law
Jonathan Coulthard - Physics
Helen Robb - Politics, Philosophy & Economics
Michael Parry - Physics
Helen Greetham - Archaeology & Anthropology

Simon Nicholson who co-ordinates Oxbridge applications at the College explains:

"Competition for Oxbridge places is intense. Not only do students have to excel academically they also have to undergo rigorous interviews to convince admissions tutors that they are worthy of a place. To date, 14 is the highest number of students from QE to ever be offered places and I’m absolutely delighted for them. It shows the high quality of students coming through QE and that they are a match for anyone, anywhere in the country.”

Student Michael Dyson adds:

“When I first heard of my offer I was overjoyed, absolutely over the moon. I’m still feeling the buzz and can’t quite believe it but know I will have to work really hard from now until June to get the high grades I need. I am determined to do it.”
