Make a Difference
Students at QE want to make a difference!
Student, Sian Robson explains:
'Make a Difference' was a new event organised by students and staff at the College to promote and celebrate equality and diversity. The event encouraged us to make a difference in the society in which we live by voting in elections, partaking in volunteer work and by raising awareness of tolerance and people who are less fortunate than many of us. Several organisations were present including the YMCA, Amnesty International , Gay Advice Darlington, Darlington Association for Disability and MIND who deal with diverse issues ranging from mental and emotional well - being, to worldwide political and social injustice. All in all it successfully raised awareness about key issues students have to deal with both in College and outside of it.'
Student, Lewis Durham adds:
‘It was a brilliant day. I was enthralled with the level of interest a large student population showed in so many aspects of the world, including the political world. It seems as if events such as ‘Make a Difference’ are not only widely enjoyed but essential as part of our extra-curricular learning.’
Sian Robson concludes:
‘With last year’s Breaking Down Barriers event seeming a difficult act to follow, today’s celebration of equality and diversity took QE by storm, altogether proving that it is possible and likely that QE students will make a difference.’
