Paris in the Spring Time

As part of their course, Advanced Level Travel & Tourism students organised a city break to Paris, including a day visit to Euro Disney. The students took on responsibility for every aspect of the trip, from the marketing and fundraising to selecting and booking the accommodation and transport.

Julia Dobson says,
"The chance to go abroad was great. It gave us a true insight into how the industry actually works".

Whilst in Paris the students dealt with all of the day-to-day operations of a city break, from guiding their group around the underground metro system to organising the evening meal in traditional French restaurants. The group visited several of the major attractions such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame and enjoyed a boat trip on the Seine. However, the highlight was Euro Disney where even non-stop rain couldn't dampen the students' spirits.

Tutor Melanie Barker concludes,

"The students worked extremely hard and benefited greatly from the experience. They now have a fuller understanding of what it would be like to run an event or become a tour leader".
