    Sam Errington, a student at QE, recently attended national trials for the British Colleges’ Sport Rugby Union Team and has won a place in the elite England squad. Sam, the only Darlington based player selected, is preparing to play internationals against Wales, Ireland and Portugal.

    ‘Identity’ is an exhibition currently being staged in the glass corridor of Darlington Arts Centre by students studying on the BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art & Design at QE. The work shows the diversity of ideas that have been produced during the first stage of the students’ course.

  • Record Number Offered Oxbridge Places
    Fourteen students studying at QE have been offered places at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Their places are conditional upon achieving the highest grades at A Level in this summer’s exams but all are determined to do their utmost to secure their places.

  • Flying the QE Flag on the International Stage!
    QE student John Chapman has taken his talents in volleyball to new highs and is proving himself formidable on the international stage! John was selected for the England Junior Men’s Volleyball Squad in the recent NEVSA (Northern European Volleyball Zonal Association) U19s Tournament in Denmark and is now likely to go on to represent his country in further international competitions.

  • Winning Story – in German
    Mirabelle Medrano-Haste, a student studying A Level German at QE, took part in the UK-German Connection Christmas competition and has been named as one of three national winners. The UK- German Connection is an organisation dedicated to increasing contacts and understanding between young people in Germany and the UK.

  • Anglo - German Fellowship Programme
    Harriet Endersby and Sophie Aisbitt have won places on the British Council's Anglo-German Fellowship Programme and will be off to Germany in February to spend two weeks in Mülheim an der Ruhr. They are studying AS Level German at QE and will attend the College’s partner school Otto-Pankok Schule, staying with German families while they complete research projects.

    QE has been named North East College of the year for 2009 by British Colleges Sport. The award is in recognition of the College’s contribution to all aspects of sport in the region.
