- Cross Country Success
At the recent British Colleges' North East Championships at Huddersfield, athletes from QE had resounding success. A girls' and a boys' team were entered and both have qualified for the national finals at Loughborough University in the spring.

- Family Award
Romeela Rana-Rahman was nominated for a Special Achiever Award in the 2004 Celebration of Learning Awards. At the awards ceremony held at Tall Trees on Friday, 26th November, Romeela was delighted to find out that she had won the Family Achiever category.

At the British Colleges' North East Championships held at Huddersfield QE was represented by three students: Graham Johnson, Andrew Scott and Emma Rowsby.

- Meeting with the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster
A group of A Level Politics students recently travelled to London to meet Alan Milburn at the Palace of Westminster. The 20 students enjoyed a tour of Parliament before meeting their MP in a Select Committee room and asking him searching questions about current political issues and about his role as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

- Swimming Success for College Girls
The QE Girls' swimming team won their divisional heats of the National Schools' Swimming Championships at Middlesbrough.

- Outstanding Success for College Biathletes
Thirteen students and a teacher from QE competed in the regional heats of the Schools' Biathlon Championships, held at Ampleforth College.

A fundraising day for the Heart Foundation raised more than £600 in memory of Lloyd Peardon.

- Double County Success
Andrew James has been selected for two Under 18 Durham County football squads. He has a place in the Durham County Schools' squad, made up of boys still in further education and is also a member of the Durham County Youth team which is open to all boys in the county.

- Teamwork
GNVQ Intermediate Business students recently took part in a Young Enterprise team-building challenge organised by the Territorial Army at Bramble Hill Farm in Middlesbrough.

- Judo Championships
QE student, Jan Gosiewski, has just heard he has won a place in the British boys' judo squad. He's now part of the World Class Start Programme and will attend regular elite training sessions at a range of venues around the country.
