Life in College
The quality of relationships between staff and students is excellent and we hope that new entrants will help to maintain the lively and friendly environment and the range of informal activities in which interests and relationships are developed.
Rules are kept to a minimum with the emphasis placed on self-discipline. Students entering the College are expected to have a mature and responsible attitude to their chosen courses of study and to co-operate with their tutors in an adult manner. All students are given a copy of the Student Diary/Planner which explains the essential College procedures. Students are asked to pay particular attention to the requirements of punctuality and attendance.
There is a genuine concern among staff for the welfare of each individual student. It is important to ask for help when necessary. Subject teachers continually monitor a student’s progress and problems are shared by discussion with the student concerned.
Students are allocated to a tutor group of about twenty-three students. The tutor group meets with the Group Tutor twice each week to undertake activities and for individual discussions. Each student has a series of regular interviews with his/her Group Tutor to review study targets and overall progress and for personal guidance as necessary.
Each Group Tutor and every student has a named Principal Tutor who provides additional support and guidance to maximise the success of students.
