Admissions 2010
Each year the College has places for just over 1000 new first year students who largely come from schools in Darlington, Durham and North Yorkshire. We are usually able to offer places to all applicants provided they apply at the appropriate time and meet the application deadlines. If a waiting list is introduced, it is regularly reviewed throughout the year.
Partner School Applicants
The College has 14 partner schools and students from these schools have priority. They will be offered a place if QE is an appropriate choice for them and if they meet the College entry requirements. The deadline for applications from partner school students is 15 January 2010. After this date any partner school applications will be placed on the waiting list.
College liaison staff will ensure that partner schools have application forms for their students and will be available to guide and assist with applications.
Non Partner School Applicants
Applications from students who do not attend one of our partner schools will be accepted for consideration during a window of time after the Open Evenings – Monday 23 November - Friday 4 December 2009. Applications from students from non partner schools which are received after 4 December 2009 will be placed on a waiting list.
Non partner applicants can request an application form to be sent to them and forms will be posted out after the final Open Evening. A form will also be available on the College website from Friday 20 November.
At the end of January 2010 we will know the total number of places to be offered to partner school applicants and non partner applications will then be considered. It is hoped that we will be able to interview and offer places to all non partner students who submitted their applications before the deadline - 4 December. However, if the College is oversubscribed with non partner applications received by 4 December then places will be offered to these students based on their mock GCSE results. Any who are unsuccessful at this stage will then be placed on the waiting list.
Non partner applicants who applied by 4 December will be interviewed in February and informed in March if they have an offer of a place or are on the waiting list.
Non Partner Darlington Applicants
Applicants who reside in the Borough of Darlington and who do not attend a partner school must apply within the same window of time as other non partner applicants – 23 November to 4 December. If QE is an appropriate choice and if they meet the College entry requirements such applicants will be offered a place. Applications from Darlington non partner applicants received after 4 December will be placed on the waiting list.
