Where to Find Help

Female students in the librarySince the courses at the College are only for one or two years, students are expected to review their career aspirations regularly and to seek advice as necessary. The Group Tutor assists the student in this process as part of the regular interview cycle.

All students receive first class careers guidance while at College. There are careers programmes which include workshops, talks by visiting speakers, work experience opportunities and visits. The College has two professional Higher Education & Careers Advisors, Stella Barnes and Cathy Hodgson, who provide advice and in-depth interviews for students. They work closely with Connexions Advisors who also come into College.

The College has much expertise in higher education guidance and a team of staff has responsibility for university applications.

Destinations

We are very proud of our examination results and our record in enabling students to achieve their ambitions.

A large proportion of our students progress to higher education (mostly universities) on leaving College and last year approximately 800 students started degree courses at 80 different universities and colleges in all parts of the country, including traditional and new universities. We are confident that we provide a first class service to our students.

Not all Advanced Level students continue with their education and a number take up employment in a range of occupations such as banking, retail management, business administration and the police.

Some students completing the one year Transition to Advanced Level Programme stay on at College to take Advanced Level programme; others use their qualifications to gain employment or to start further education courses elsewhere.
