Employment Fair Opens Many Doors for Students

The college recently hosted its annual Employment Fair where 35 local employers came to talk to students about apprenticeships, graduate jobs, volunteering and work experience.

Students had the opportunity to ask the employers questions about job roles and opportunities within the different companies. Nissan, CPI, GSK, The Social Co and Durham Wildlife Trust were among the employers that attended the event.

Anna (student) “I found the Employment Fair to be really helpful. The employers that I spoke to provided me with advice on how to prepare for interviews, benefits of the job and relevant information. I found it really eye opening to learn about the range of opportunities out there for me after college.’

Dan, Nissan ‘It was great to speak to so many well informed polite and engaged students about the range of opportunities we can offer.’

Meirion Baker, Assistant Principal, said, “The College works closely with a large number of employers to ensure that our students are ready for the world of work, and prepared to compete for the very best jobs, whether straight after College or later, as graduates.  The Employment Fair is a key part of that support and yesterday’s event was our biggest and most successful ever.  We’re so grateful to everyone from the local business community who gave their time to share information, tips and insights with our students.”
