Information For Year 1 Students, 2021

Dear Student

I hope that you are enjoying the remainder of your summer holiday and looking forward to joining us next Thursday (9th September.)  We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to the college as new first year students.

On Wednesday next week (8th September) we will be in touch with you again to let you know where you need to attend at 9.00 am the following day.  Staff will be on hand to help you find your way to the appropriate room.  You will be given important information about the college to help you to settle in and will then begin your timetabled classes.

Before joining us, we would ask you to take two Lateral Flow Tests using the test kits we provided at enrolment.  The first of these tests should be taken on Sunday or Monday and the other the Wednesday evening prior to coming to college.  If you have requested support for testing, you will be contacted directly by us.

If you are planning to use a college bus service please be aware that all buses will run from Thursday morning in accordance with the times published on our website which you can access here.

I have attached a document which sets out our current guidance in relation to COVID-19.  Please take time to read this document before Monday and do bear the following points in mind in particular:

•             If you have symptoms of Coronavirus, or a member of your household does, do not attend College, but contact qe@qeliz.ac.uk to inform us of your absence.

•             Please test yourself the evening before returning to College after the summer holidays. Contact Reception if you require more test kits.

•             Please wear face coverings when moving around the College site, in corridors or if queuing in social/work spaces.

•             Please wear a face covering when travelling on College buses.

•             Please note the importance of good hygiene and ventilation in College. Continue regular handwashing, use the hand sanitiser and follow the “Catch it, Bin it, Kill it” guidance shown on posters around College. Windows and doors should remain open wherever possible.

Finally, if you have any questions or concerns about the start of term, do not hesitate to contact us before Thursday.

Best wishes,

Meirion Baker
