Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington has been awarded an FA Educational Award for its ‘Outstanding Contribution to Football Development.’ The award was for the work that the College does through football in terms of participation, coaching, officiating, leadership, volunteering and the on-going development of the Futsal programme.

Paul Carroll, Sports Development Co-ordinator at QE, commented:

“We were delighted to win the award. As a College we have worked hard to develop our football and sports programmes. Our students are keen to take part as players, coaches, leaders and volunteers both in College and in clubs in the area. We have a fantastic relationship with Darlington Spraire Lads and Lasses FC and, through the work we do, our students gain a sound grounding for learning and developing their coaching in the Club and in local schools.”

At the ceremony QE students Jonny Hawman and David Hookway also received awards from Durham FA.  Jonny won the Durham FA Football Futures Award for coaching and working with teams and David was acclaimed Young Volunteer of the Year (County Winner.)
