Athletics Champion

Student, Sarah Parsons recently took part in the first British Colleges Sport National Athletics Finals at the International Stadium in Gateshead.
She competed in the Shot-Put, Discus and Hammer competitions against elite athletics students from across England, Scotland and Wales and did fantastically well: Sarah won all three events, throwing close to her personal best in all three categories.
Sarah said:
“I was pleased to win the competitions against such a high standard of athletes from colleges across the country. To win at such an elite level in colleges’ sport is a great achievement and I hope to carry on this success for the rest of the season.’’
Paul Carroll, QE’s Sports Development Co-ordinator, commented:
“Sarah is a great student who has a fantastic commitment to both her studies and her sport. She is a strong athlete and netball player and coach. We are very proud of her achievements”
Sarah will leave College this summer and progress onto university in York to study Accountancy. She will continue her athletics career at the City of York Athletics Club.
