Members of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) from QE have enjoyed the first ever Northern Rat Training Weekend at Albemarle Barracks, Northumberland. Organised by 4 Brigade Cadet Training Team (CTT), the action-packed event introduced cadets to the exciting range of activities in which the CCF participates. These included navigation, shooting, paintballing, archery, command tasks and an indoor obstacle course, all whilst camping under the stars. There was also an Army information stand which provided details of the wide variety of career opportunities available, allowing the group to begin making valuable links. First year student, Alfie Taylor, comments: ‘It was a great weekend and we really enjoyed taking part in everything that was on offer’. Caitlin Howie adds: ‘Being able to acquire new skills made the experience incredibly fun and interactive. I loved the whole weekend’.
2Lt Kat Forster, CCF Contingent Commander at QE, concludes: ‘The weekend was a huge success, introducing our new cadets to some of the activities available within the CCF. We would like to thank the CTT for organising such an enjoyable weekend and we are already looking forward to the second Northern Rat next year’.
