Ben Broadbent, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, has taken time out from his very busy schedule to visit QE and speak to students from a range of subjects about the Bank of England and its role in the British economy over the last 300 years. Students from A Level Maths, Politics and Economics listened as Ben delivered an inspiring presentation on the importance of pursuing your interests and the opportunities that can arise from doing what you love. His optimistic message echoes his own career, from studying Music in Paris to lecturing in Economics. Following the presentation, students participated in a lively Q&A session in which they asked Ben thought-provoking questions on several topical issues including the potential economic impact of Brexit.
Andrew Brown, Vice President of the Student Association, comments: ‘I found the session not only informative, but also very enjoyable, it is wonderful that the College provides us with opportunities to speak with industry experts. I am considering a career in accountancy and being able to obtain information and advice on this route from someone who knows the banking system better than most people is invaluable’.
