A Level English Language students from QE have benefitted from three days of creative writing workshops with local writer, Tracey Iceton. The Stockton-based author, whose concluding novel of the ‘Celtic Colours’ trilogy comes out early next year, worked with students to help them to develop powerful story-telling techniques for their creative writing coursework folders. Tilly Houston, first year student, explains: ‘Tracey’s sessions were extremely beneficial and provided us with the opportunity to think about how to create characters, obtain the reader’s attention with effective opening lines and employ language in a concise way’.
Tracey adds: ‘It was great to be able to share some of my expertise with the students. They worked hard through some intensive activities and impressed me with their ideas which I am sure will go on to become wonderful pieces of coursework’. Tracey hopes to return to the College in the future to continue her work with first and second year creative writers.
