Experiencing life in France and Belgium

A group of students from QE spent a week in Northern France and Belgium, living with families in Armentières and experiencing French life first hand.

The 28 A level French students visited the beautiful cities of Lille, Arras, Ghent and Bruges, famous for their stylish Flemish architecture and vibrant city life. They also enjoyed a thought – provoking trip around First World War battlefields, cemeteries and new monuments which, even a 100 years on, they found very moving.

Head of French, Louise Nicholson, said:

‘The visit was a huge success, an excellent learning experience. It was an invaluable invaluable opportunity for students to put their advanced language skills into full practice as most of the host families spoke very little English.’
