Mascots to Africa

Date Posted: 15/10/2013 | Posted In: Latest news

Andrew Robinson, a student at QE, visited Northwood Primary School in Darlington to collect some friends to take to Africa.  Andrew is going on a World Challenge expedition to Ethiopia in October and picked up Theresa Tiger, Ruby Rabbit and Floppy Dog from the foundation classes. The animals will journey around Ethiopia with Andrew and fourteen other QE students who will be carrying out voluntary work in a school out there. Whilst in Ethiopia, photos of the mascots will be sent back to Northwood to keep the children informed of their progress.

Nancy Wall, teacher and expedition leader, said:

“It’s really positive that we can share the experience of the students with younger children.  I hope it inspires the Northwood children, in the same way I was inspired as a child, and gives them the travelling bug.”

On their return from Africa, the QE students plan to visit Northwood and give a presentation about their experiences.
