Fifteen QE students are going to the University of Bath to compete in the British Colleges’ Sport national finals over the weekend of 4th-6th April. Sport is an important, integral part of College with many students going on to both sporting and academic success.
At Bath, champions from 8 regions in England, plus Wales and Scotland, compete in 14 different sports to determine the British national champions. Over 2000 young people will take part in this year’s championships and the QE students, having already won their respective regional titles, will represent the North East in events across 3 different sports – Swimming, Netball and XCountry.
Paul Carroll, QE’s Sports Development Co-ordinator, commented:
“To have 15 students qualify in 3 of the 14 sports is great. Taking 15 students to the National Finals makes QE a well-represented college and therefore one of the best colleges for sporting opportunities in the country. All of the students are a credit to the College, their families and themselves and their sporting ability is there for all to see. However, their commitment, enthusiasm and sense of teamwork are equally impressive. They are a pleasure to work with.”
