QE Awarded £2.3 Million From Capacity Fund

Teaching facilities at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College will be greatly enhanced with the creation of state of the art academic learning spaces as a result of it securing a share of a recently announced £83 million capacity fund for post-16 providers.

This financial award recognises the growing demand for places at QE. With an excellent and sustained record of student success in academic outcomes, extra-curricular achievements, personal development and progression rates QE is a very popular choice for young people from a wide geographical area including County Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and Darlington.

The College has recently increased its student in-take to over 2,000 and the planned extension of the campus will allow QE to ensure that all students will continue to thrive in a modern, well-equipped learning environment.

According to the Department for Education, the fund will also support the government’s drive to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050 with all successful colleges required to show how their projects will contribute to the target.
