QE Men’s Football Enjoys Another Successful Season

After being crowned champions of the North East Colleges’ League last season, QE men’s first football team has enjoyed another thrilling year, defeating some of the region’s largest colleges in a highly prestigious division. QE has beaten Gateshead College and Sunderland College, and the team has also enjoyed success against Bede Sixth Form College and Middlesbrough College, showcasing the talents of QE’s players and cementing the College’s reputation as a footballing giant in the North East.

The season culminated in a nail-biting finish with the eventual league winners beating QE 3-2. QE’s Coach, Paul Carroll, comments: ‘The game was played with a competitive but very good nature with QE demonstrating some great football. I am incredibly proud of our team for playing so well throughout the season and for being so successful.’

Looking back on the season, Paul adds: ‘Our players have shown fantastic commitment, conduct, behaviour and hard work in all of their matches, and have played brilliant football. There are so many positives to take away from the season, and we are already looking forward to next year’s fixtures.’

QE offers one of the largest sporting provisions for A Level students in the North East with teams in football, rugby, basketball and netball who regularly compete against other colleges in the region. There are also opportunities for students to participate in recreational sport as part of the College’s Enrichment programme.
