QE Sports Report (Men’s Football) – Wednesday 8th March 2023

It has been another fantastic week of sport at QE as the College’s men’s first football team travelled to Gateshead College and secured a huge 4-0 victory in a thrilling league match. QE’s footballers are now sitting comfortably in fourth place in the North East Colleges’ League championship division with five games remaining of this year’s exciting season.

Coach, Paul Carroll, who also teaches Sport and Leisure at QE, was delighted with his team’s performance. He says: ‘We played some very good football. The team pressed home their possession and turned it into four outstanding goals. It was a great win for us and I am incredibly proud of all of the players.’ Captain, George Walker, who studies A Level PE, Chemistry and Maths at QE, adds: ‘We displayed a professional and disciplined performance throughout the game. It was a brilliant result!’

QE offers one of the largest sporting provisions for A Level students in the North East with teams in football, rugby, basketball and netball who regularly compete against other colleges in the region. There are also opportunities for students to participate in recreational sport including badminton, table tennis, indoor cricket and volleyball.
