Raising money for MIND

Date Posted: 31/05/2018 | Posted In: Latest news

This year’s Student Association QE has managed to raise over £700 for its chosen charity, Mind. The students organised several events throughout the year to raise funds for the mental health organisation, including a Christmas Jumper Day, Valentine’s Day themed bake sale and a sweet sale in March. In their final meeting of the academic year, SA members Gina Bibby and Danny Brown presented a cheque to Christine Thompson and Declan Porteous, representatives from Mind Darlington who thanked the students for the donation and for choosing Mind as their charity of the year.

In a letter to the College, Gary Emerson, Chief Executive of Mind Darlington, explains: ‘On behalf of Darlington Mind, I would like to thank the students of QESFC for their kind donation. Without this type of support, we would not be able to offer such a wide range of services to people dealing with mental health issues in the Darlington area’. Sarah Steel, Student Services Coordinator at QESFC, adds: ‘The SA have worked hard over the course of the year to raise money for MIND, their chosen charity. They organised a variety of different activities and also helped raise awareness of mental health issues, they should be very proud of their efforts’.
