Retirement before 80th Birthday

Date Posted: 06/06/2014 | Posted In: Latest news

Estates Assistant, Wally Pratt, has just retired from QE at the age of 79, a few weeks before his 80th birthday.

Wally has been at the college since 2001 and his role at QE was very much his second, later career. His duties were largely over the lunchtime period ensuring that the College was spic and span for afternoon lessons and that students tidied up after themselves and their lunch break. He was very much a favourite with both students and staff.

Wally enjoyed his time at QE and will miss the students and his colleagues. However, he says:

‘I want to retire while I am still fit enough to enjoy myself and spend time with my family. QE is a great place to work and I will miss everyone, but it’s right for me to move on.’

The staff and students presented Wally with gifts to mark his retirement.
