Shoe Box Appeal

Students entered into the spirit of Christmas early by participating in Convoy Aid Romania’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

QE has supported this Stockton based charity for many years and this year was especially poignant as, during the summer, a group of students worked with the Roma Community in Romania and saw first-hand the poverty and deprivation that exists in the country.  Beccy Stannard, Student Services Co-ordinator said: ‘Tutor groups were asked to donate Christmas presents for children and the gifts were put into boxes which were wrapped in a festive way by the students. The gifts were collected enthusiastically and included items of clothing, toiletries, stationery, sweets, tinned food and toys. QE students sent out 111 shoe boxes, all of which will be handed out personally by the charity workers. It was a really good effort and we hope that the boxes will brighten up Christmas for many children in Romania.’
