Creative Media Practice students from QE have recently started working on an exciting advertising campaign project as part of their coursework. Each student will be collaborating with a real-life client to produce a campaign consisting of both print and television adverts with the clients ranging from local organisations to national companies. Andy’s Candy Bar, located in Duke Street, Darlington, wants students to help promote their business whilst Darlington Borough Council and Durham Police are hoping that their Safe Streets campaign is a success. Other organisations include clothing brand UGD Apparel and UK Safer Internet.
Beccy Vickers, Course Leader for Creative Media Practice, comments: ‘The advertising campaign has provided our students with a fantastic opportunity to enhance their employability skills. All students met their client to discuss their aims and objectives and it has been an ideal way for them to obtain a taste of the media and advertising industries, in addition to completing an element of work experience. Sam Stanislaus from UGD adds: ‘It’s been great to work with QE’s students as their age group forms our target market, therefore it’s been interesting to see how they interpret advertising and different promotional techniques. We were also able to obtain their creative ideas and look at they ways they would market our business’.
