Introduction to the course (Part 1) – Alan introduces you to our Applied Science course.

A Typical A Level Chemistry Lesson – What do you do if the labels fall off your chemical bottles? Could you tell an acid from contact lens solution, or a fungicide from firework solution? Join the Chemistry department as they show you how to solve this tricky problem.

- Listen to a personalised message from Darryn, Course Leader for Computer Science.
- Take part in the ‘Code Breaker Challenge’ – see if you can crack the combination and open the safe! Using computer science techniques such as logic gates, Boolean algebra and number systems, see if you can beat the clock and get your name up on the leader board! Please be aware that you will need to complete this activity on a computer or laptop.
- Watch a series of videos created by the department on ‘Transhumanism’, ‘5G – is it safe?’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence’.
Introduction to the Course – Louise introduces you to our Economics course.
Competition – Take part in ‘The Government Game’ and be in with the chance of winning a prize (This is a week-long challenge, therefore you need to enter by the end of Monday 29th June)
‘Do you speak teen?’ – Paul takes you through an introductory English Language lesson which explores the relationship between your age and your language.
Introduction to two dystopian texts – Dean talks us through two dystopian texts that you study as part of our English Literature course, 1984 and The Handmaid’s Tale.
Competition – Julie gives you all the details for the English Literature competition in which you could win a Kindle! The winner will be drawn live on the English department’s Instagram account (qe_english) on Friday 3rd July at 3.00pm.
Exploring Film Storytelling – Mark gives us an introduction to how stories are told through film, analysing examples of how filmmakers approach story in strategic ways to maximise the dramatic power of their narratives.
